Choosing a title for a short story collection is difficult enough, never mind getting the artwork just right for the cover. Which throws up its own set of problems. Do you choose one story from the collection as a theme, and focus on that for a cover? Which can be easier to do. But, as we all know, because we do judge a book by its cover, it’s imperative the cover reflects more than just one aspect, or one story.
As is the case with Mark J Howard’s upcoming collection, which features four science fiction stories, and two with supernatural themes. Here is our choice of cover that, in the end, may not represent the feel of the collection.
